Meet Dr. Jillian

Dr. Arenz is a licensed Clinical Psychologist in New York, providing therapy, coaching, consulting, and executive functioning support to her clients.

She takes a personalized approach, integrating different therapies to fit your specific needs and context. Her practice is trauma-informed, anti-racist, decolonial, intersectional, culturally informed, feminist, and inclusive. Therapy is a space to explore your thoughts, emotions, and patterns, to overcome stress and unwanted symptoms, and to grow and deepen your relationship with yourself and others.

Dr. Arenz specializes in Trauma, Stress, and Anxiety Disorders, ADHD/Executive Functioning, navigating chronic and acute health issues, and managing relationships of all kinds (friends, family, romantic, dating, ENM/Poly).

She has advanced training in therapies designed to target these symptoms: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Exposure Therapies (ExRP, HRT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), and trauma-specific treatments like Prolonged Exposure (PE), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Written and Narrative Exposure Therapies (NET, WET).

While she can support all clients, Dr. Jillian has specialized training in working with underserved and under-resourced populations, including women, veterans, LGBTQIA+ folks, ENM and poly folks, refugees and immigrants, first responders, healthcare providers, and members of minoritized groups.

Training

Dr. Jillian earned her PhD from Teachers College, Columbia University, and her BA from Kenyon College. She completed her predoctoral internship at Bellevue Hospital (NYC Health & Hospitals/NYU Langone) and her postdoctoral fellowship at the Weill Cornell Medicine Program for Anxiety and Traumatic Stress Studies.

Identity/Positionality Statement

Dr. Jillian is a white woman who identifies as queer, ethically non-monogamous, and gender non-conforming. She benefits from white privilege and appearing as straight and cis. She grew up in a low SES multigenerational family and is a first-generation college student.
